First I read that Harper would support the US missile defence shield. Not a good idea considering that most Canadians are opposed to it.
Then I see that despite his own personal feelings about ssm he would grant equal protection and benefits to gays and lesbians. While I think this is great, I don't really believe him and I KNOW his party members will be totally pissed at him for saying so. Lose lose situation Stephen.
*they apparently cheered when he announced that he would maintain traditional marriage but I wonder what they were cheering exactly when he all but guaranteed same sex couples all the same rights and benefits as traditional couples receive.
Next he said he would maintain the status quo on abortion which again I think is ok but it won't make me vote for him. However his party wasn't so enthusiastic with fairly lackluster applause.
Finally I hear they are reneging on promises made to the Progressive Conservatives way back when they wanted to entice them to merge with the Alliance. That's not playing nice Stephen and people tend to remember when you break promises made, especially promises that were key to acheiving the merger in the first place.
I could be wrong here but I would hazard a guess that Stephen's week from hell is continuing. OMG could it be that he is a flip flopper? HORRORS ...
My take is he is having a real tough time rationalizing all those irrational ideas he keeps having and still be appealing to the voters. A word of advice. You can't have it both ways Stephen either you are a conservative or you aren't.
