Past the point of no return

Think about that statement for a minute.

Past the point of no return. It means there is no going back .... It means an event is UNSTOPPABLE. It means no matter what you do now or how hard you try the unthinkable is going to happen.

Even while the nay sayers continue to throw smoke and confusion on the issue in hopes to maintain their ironlike grasp on their company profits. Even while these corporate hawks continue to deceive the mass sheep of the population who refuse to see the proof in front of their very eyes. Even while the politicians pursue their short sighted policies, knowing full well that what they think is best for the economic future of their country is also likely to destroy it... and yet they continue to try an muddy the water like this piece of crap here and unfortunately they succeeded.

Why am I so pissed off? Because it's OVER. We lost. Because the world my kids will inherit is screwed up beyond repair. Who knows what kind of world my future grandkids will live in. Will there still be a world for my GREAT grandkids?

While all the wingnuts were posturing and procrastinating, Global Warming silently and irreversibly continued it's slow march and passed the point of no return ...

** FIVE YEARS AGO **

That's right. Five years ago. Think about it.

Yeah things may still SEEM ok but think again.

There is ** this story ** about Mount Kilimanjaro whose name literally means "mountain of snow". A sad article detailing the shrinking glaciers of the mountain. A mountain who has been snow capped for 11,000 years at least .... until today. A picture showing Mount Kilimanjaro as it has been for the last 11,000 years can be seen in in this article If you want to see how it looks today, go here

But it isn't just Kilimanjaro. The Himalayas are also in trouble. See story ** here **

In fact glaciers all over the world are in retreat and some have disappeared entirely. Don't believe me? Do a google search. One of the most famous glaciers in Canada is also receeding at an alarming rate. Story here but video link on the site is broken The Big Melt

On a more personal level here on Vancouver Island, our local ski resort Mt Washington did not open AT ALL this winter for lack of snow and there are fears of water shortages as a result of little to no mountain snow pack.

Yes global warming is here folks. Now we just have to learn how to live with it. If we can.
